Meet Sheika, our founder

Sheika is the Chief Experience Officer and Founder of The Shorty and DuWop Kids Beauty and Grooming Symposium®.

Over the years as an educator, Sheika realized that there is an interactive educational gap regarding minority children in the space of personal appearance, personal development, financial literacy, and self-empowerment. After having multiple conversations with many parents, it was clear to her that something needed to happen to bridge this gap. After several months of prayer and planning, Sheika turned her creative idea into a life changing event.

Childhood is where we learn the habits that we will carry on with us most of our lives. Sheika's goal is to bridge the educational gap from “just knowing”… to actually “being capable.” In order for the next generation to succeed in life, they not only need to possess academic skills, but to also have the life skills needed to navigate through real world experiences. The symposium is just a small part of “Real World Prep.” With the combination of The Shorty and DuWop Kids Beauty and Grooming Symposium®, along with the Shorty and DuWop Interactive Learning® workshops and online programs, our unique life skills education is taking the learning space by storm. Our programs engages the kids in “deep learning” which empowers understanding, as opposed to “surface learning” which requires only memorization. It is our guarantee that your child will leave our experiences (taught beauty and barber professionals as well as other industry professionals) with new implementable information that they can apply to their day-to-day both now and in the future.
